November 28, 2020

 Dear Road Church Friends,

 Advent Blessings to you all.

The Advent season is upon us, and COVID-19 is all around us. That means our Advent services will be different than they have been in past years. The greatest evidence of our changed social circumstances is that yesterday’s Black Friday in-store sales were down on average by 52%, while online sales increased by 22%.

When I say our Advent services will be different this year, I mean different in form but not in spirit or substance. The Advent/Christmas message of Hope, Peace, Joy and Love through Christ will be the same. The spirit of Christmas will be just as strong and heartfelt as in the past. My Advent messages will be available each Sunday for viewing at home on your computer. Each Advent service will begin with the lighting of the Advent Candle accompanied by an Advent prayer and reading. If you have your own Advent wreath you may participate with me in the candle lighting, reading and prayer.

Each week of Advent, I will send you scripture readings on that week’s theme.

This week’s Advent theme is: Longing, Waiting, Wishing, Hoping

The readings are:

Isaiah 64:1-11

Psalm 80:1-7, 17-19

Psalm 137:1-6

Psalm 25:1-15

Mark 13:24-37

The title of tomorrow’s sermon is,

“We Need Christmas Now More Than Ever.”

As we enter this season of Advent together

 May God bless us all

Pastor Norm
