Dear Road Church Friends,

We are in the Church season of Epiphany. “Epiphany” means the dawning of new light, that enables us to see things we haven’t seen, noticed, or been aware of before. The discovery of new light from heaven and following where it leads is symbolized by the new star in the sky that led the wise men to Jesus. Their visit to Bethlehem foreshadowed the nations coming to Jesus bearing gifts, bowing down before him, and living by his light.

Jesus had an eye for the beauty of small things in nature, and the small besetting sins in human nature that easily spring from our blindnesses. Join us tomorrow morning when we will explore areas of our blindness and the beauty of small acts of loving kindness.

SCRIPTURE:  John 1:45-46     SERMON:  Small Is Beautiful

Philip went and found Nathanael and told him, “We’ve found the One Moses wrote of in the Law, the One preached by the prophets. It’s Jesus, the one from Nazareth!” Nathanael said, “Nazareth? You’ve got to be kidding. Nothing good can come from there!” But Philip said, “Come, see for yourself.”

FIR FOREST

By Ethel Romig Fuller

Up above, a passing breeze

Undulates the tops of trees

But in the green depths where I sit

Is no stir or feel of it.

No grass blade bends; no leaf turns,

No breath disturbs the peace of ferns.

Only in the cool, sweet hush

Is the call of thrush to thrush,

And all around me everywhere

A gentle sound like murmured prayer.

Blessings to you all,

Pastor Norm
