Dear Road Church Friends,

Many of us who dislike change, love the Fall Season because of the changes in nature that we see and feel all around us. The changing colors in the foliage, the changing, cooler temperatures of our days and nights, the shortening days and lengthening nights all combine to make us feel more connected to nature and closer to each other as we anticipate all the familiar things this new season has in store for us.

As your Pastor I say I can feel the winds of change beginning to blow gently through the life and ministry of our congregation. Monday evening at 5:30 pm we will hold our follow up meeting to the one we had at the end of August. All our members and friends are invited to attend and participate in our deliberations over how best to resume the usual activities of our boards and ministries.

My Sunday message is, “Thy Will Be Done,” the third petition in the Lord’s Prayer. There are insights and valuable lessons to be learned about the workings of God’s will in our lives in the Story of Joseph and his brothers in the closing chapters in the Book of Genesis.

                SCRIPTURE: Genesis 45:4-8 , Psalm 146               SERMON: Thy Will Be Done

Then Joseph said to his brothers, “Come closer to me.” And they came closer. He said, “I am your brother, Joseph, whom you sold into Egypt. And now do not be distressed, or angry with yourselves, because you sold me here; for God sent me before you to preserve life. For the famine has been in the land these two years; and there are five more years in which there will be neither plowing nor harvest. God sent me before you to preserve for you a remnant on earth, and to keep alive for you many survivors. So, it was not you who sent me here, but God; he has made me a father to Pharaoh, and lord of all his house and ruler over all the land of Egypt.

THY WAY, NOT MINE

Thy way, not mine O Lord, however dark it be!

Lead me by Thine own hand, choose out the path for me.

Smooth let it be or rough, it will be still the best;

Winding or straight it leads right onward to Thy rest.

The kingdom that I seek is Thine, so let the way

That leads to it be Thine, else I must surely stray.

by Horatius Bonar

May the grace of Jesus Christ, the love of God and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you.
