Dear Road Church Members and Friends,

             Blessings to you all.

I am in the midst of a series on what Jesus meant when he spoke of the kingdom of God. Last week’s sermon was, “What Kind of King?” This week I ask a follow up question: “What Kind of Kingdom?” The kingdom of God is mentioned on almost every page of the Gospels. It was the subject of most of Jesus’ parables. It was the theme of all his preaching. Jesus taught his disciples that the kingdom should be their highest priority. Yet the kingdom is hardly mentioned at all in the writings of the Apostles. Jesus promised us the kingdom, but the Apostles gave us the Church. What happened to the kingdom, and what kind of kingdom is it? Join us tomorrow and find out.

SCRIPTURE: Acts 1:6-8                SERMON TITLE: “What Kind of Kingdom?”

So when the apostles had come together, they asked him, “Lord, is this the time when you will restore the past glory of the kingdom to Israel?” He replied, “It is not for you to know the times or periods that the Father has set by his own authority. But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

EARTH IS ENOUGH

We men of earth have here the stuff

Of Paradise,—we have enough!

We need no other stones to build

The Temple of the Unfulfilled—

No other ivory for the doors—

No other marble for the floors—

No other cedar for the beams

And dome of man’s immortal dreams.

Here on the paths of every-day—

Here on the common human way

Is all the stuff the gods would take

To build a Heaven, to mold and make

New Edens. Ours the stuff sublime

To build Eternity in time!

May the grace of Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you.
