 Dear Road Church Friends,

 Merry Christmas to you all,

This Sunday, December 27th, is the First Sunday after Christmas.

The title of my message is, “Doing the Work of Christmas”-Matthew 2:13-15. After the wise men depart from Bethlehem, and the Christmas Star disappears from the night sky, the charming life of Joseph, Mary and baby Jesus is brought to an abrupt end. Herod attempts to extinguish their lives and the Promise that Christmas offers to the world. The holy family flees to Egypt. When Herod dies they stay in hiding by settling 100 miles north of Bethlehem in the obscure village of Nazareth. They live there for 30 years as working class peasants. It must have seemed to them that the Promise of Christmas was fading away. Then Jesus appeared and taught his followers the true meaning of Christmas, and what Christmas requires of us.

LET US PRAY: O Lord our God, as we celebrate again the festival of Christmas, we ask you to make us humble and loving like Jesus, who did not come to be served but to serve, and who said that it is better to give than to receive; so that, in his name, we may devote ourselves to the care and service of all those who are in need. Amen.

May the joy of the angels, the eagerness of the shepherds, the perseverance of the wise men, the obedience of Joseph and Mary, be yours this Christmas.

 Christmas Blessings,

Pastor Norm
