ROAD CHURCH CHAT 3/25/2020

Dear Members and Friends of the Road Church,

Welcome to the “Road Church Chat.”

Road Church Chat” is the name I have given to this email ministry which will be one of our main lines of communication as long as our Sunday worship service is suspended.

All of you will be receiving Pastoral Posts from me on a regular basis. These posts will include church news items, prayer requests, scripture texts, devotional readings and poems. This church-wide email will also be our opportunity to chat among ourselves about church matters and share our joys and concerns. The heading of each email will show the email addresses of all recipients. If you wish, this will enable you to “reply all” or initiate separate side chats with individuals. If you have specific prayer requests or concerns you may email them to me at normerlendson@gmail.com. My goal is that this line of communication will help us be the church while we are not gathering together as the church.

At our final Sunday service, I addressed the challenges that a suspension of Sunday services would pose to churches. How can we be the church if we are not gathering together on Sundays? I said then that the ordinary times of weekly worship and fellowship are what prepare us for the challenges of unusual times like these. Let’s look at what we learned and heard and did on Sunday mornings as training sessions on how to be the church on the days between Sundays. Let’s imagine how we can make our response to this pandemic our finest hour. Let’s seize these trying times with courage and see them as an opportunity to be the best church that we can be. Each one of us can help make this our finest hour. Let’s stay connected and work together, and pray for one another so that when this episode becomes another chapter in our long history, we will look back and say, this WAS one of our finest hours.

Blessings and Best Wishes to All,

Pastor Norm Erlendson

SUNDAY WORSHIP SERVICES AT ROAD CHURCH ARE CANCELED 3/21/2020

Dear Road Church Members and Friends,

Our church leadership has decided that the time has come to discontinue gathering together for Sunday morning worship for the immediate future. The increasing health risks of the COVID-19 virus, especially to our age group, has made this decision necessary. We will continue praying for each other and staying in touch in other ways to remain close. We intend to provide all of you weekly devotional messages and other church related information during this time. We will keep you updated as we venture together into this uncharted territory. I remain available to you by phone or email at all times.

Pastor Norm Erlendson

A WORD FROM OUR TREASURER Even though our Sunday services have been discontinued for the time being, it is important to remember that our weekly and monthly operating expenses do continue. As your treasurer I urge you to continue your faithful financial support for our church by mailing your checks to The Road Church, 903 Pequot Trail, Stonington, CT 06378.

Thank you for your financial support,

Charles Jones, Treasurer

As your pastor I will remain available and at your service throughout the duration of this crisis. You may contact me anytime on my mobile phone (860-759-6720), or by email at normerlendson@gmail.com

May the blessings of good health and good cheer be with us all.
