Dear Road Church Friends,

The subject of my message this week is taken from Jesus’ Parable of the Sower. This story is about Jesus, the Sower sending his disciples into all the world, just as the wind blows nature’s seeds everywhere not knowing where they will land. When we become the living embodiment of the gospel message, our lives are the seeds that Jesus sows in the world. What does it mean to see ourselves as the living seeds of the Living God in the world?— Being and bearing the Firstfruit of the kingdom of God. Sunday we will think on these things.

SERMON:  We Are Seeds of God

SCRIPTURE: Matthew 13:1-9, 18-23

Jesus left the house where he was staying and went to the lake. A large crowd soon gathered around him, so he got into a boat and taught as the people stood on the shore. He told many parables, like this one: A farmer went out to plant some seeds. As he scattered them across his field, some seeds fell on a footpath, and the birds came and ate them. Other seeds fell on shallow soil with underlying rock. The seeds sprouted quickly. But the plants soon wilted under the hot sun, and since they didn’t have deep roots, they died. Other seeds fell among thorns that grew up and choked out the tender plants. Still other seeds fell on fertile soil, and they produced a crop that was thirty, sixty, and even a hundred times as much as had been planted! Anyone with ears to hear should listen and understand.

SCRIPTURE: Isaiah 55:10-11

For as the rain comes down from heaven and does not return until it has watered the earth, making it spring forth and sprout, giving seed to the sower and bread to the father, so shall my word that goes out from my mouth shall not return empty, but it shall accomplish my purpose and succeed in the thing for which I sent it.

  SERVICE

by Washington Gladden

O Master let me walk with Thee

In lowly paths of service free,

Tell me Thy secret, help me bear

The strain of toil, the fret of care.

Help me the slow of heart to move

By some clear winning word of love,

Teach me the wayward feet to stay,

And guide them in the homeward way.

Teach me Thy patience, still with Thee

In closer, dearer company,

In work that keeps faith sweet and strong,

In trust that triumphs over wrong.

In hope that sends a shining ray

Far down the future’s broadening way,

In peace that only Thou canst give,

With Thee O Master, let me live.

Blessing to you all,

Pastor Norm
