November 7, 2020

 Dear Road Church Friends,

The theme of this week’s Sunday message is “Wise Waiting.” Since early this year we have spent a lot of time sheltering in our homes waiting for this pandemic to pass. This week we have been waiting to learn the outcomes of our national election. Waiting is a big part of our lives. The question is, how do we make constructive use of it? This week’s scripture reading in Matthew 25:1-13 is about ten girls all dressed up for a wedding party, who spend a lot of time waiting for a wedding party to begin. Their job was to greet the happy couple when they arrive with brightly burning torches and escort them to the Banquet Hall. But the Bride and Groom were delayed. The girls’ wait turned out to be a very long one. When the Groom and his Bride finally arrived it was midnight. Half of the girls were prepared because they made wise use of their waiting time and the other half did not. Five are described as foolish because during their wait, they let their torches run out of oil. What does that mean? Hear my answer on Sunday.

REMEMBER OUR AFTER CHURCH MEETING:

THIS SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 8, 2020 at 10:30 am

Our agenda will include three items.

(A)  Pastor Norm will share ideas about Advent and Christmas services.

(B)  We will review our mission statement and outreach plans that we agreed upon earlier this year. We want to be ready to move ahead on these as soon as it is safe to do so.

(C)  We will share ideas about our 350th anniversary celebration in 2024.

If you plan to join us in person please call or email Pastor Norm. We may be able to arrange for call in participation for those who prefer that method. You may also call Pastor Norm to discuss any of these agenda items with him before the November 8th  meeting and he will share your input. You may call Pastor Norm at 860-759-6720.

 Blessings to you all,

 Pastor Norm
